Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how ExposeYourFriends ("we", "us", or "our"), accessible at exposeyourfriends.com, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile and web application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) to our servers. The App operates as a real-time multiplayer party game where all session data (room codes, player nicknames chosen at runtime, and scores) is held only in server memory for the duration of the game session and is discarded immediately after the session ends. No account registration is required.

The following data is stored locally on your device only using your browser's or app's localStorage:

  • Your preferred display name and avatar settings
  • Temporary (24-hour) unlocks of premium cosmetic items obtained by watching a rewarded ad
  • Your language preference

None of this locally stored data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party by us.

2. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display ads to users. AdMob may collect and use information about your device and usage of the App to serve you relevant advertisements. This includes:

  • Advertising identifiers – such as the Google Advertising ID (GAID on Android) or Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA on iOS)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies – used in web environments to serve interest-based advertisements
  • Device information – such as device model, OS version, IP address, and general location (country/region) derived from IP
  • Usage data – such as which ads were shown, whether they were clicked, and in-app events related to ad delivery

AdMob may use this data to serve personalized (interest-based) advertising based on your inferred interests and demographics. Google's use of advertising data is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

For more information about how Google uses data from apps that use its services, visit https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3. Rewarded Ads

The App offers optional rewarded video advertisements powered by Google AdMob. Watching a rewarded ad is entirely voluntary and grants you temporary access (24 hours) to certain premium cosmetic items. No payment or account is required. Watching a rewarded ad is subject to the same data practices described in Section 2.

4. Push Notifications

With your explicit permission, the App may send you web push notifications (e.g., reminders to play on weekends). We store your browser's push subscription endpoint on our server solely for the purpose of sending you these notifications. We do not associate this endpoint with any personal identity. You can revoke push notification permission at any time through your browser or device settings.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Regarding AdMob: we do not flag our App as child-directed. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, you may contact us using the details in Section 9.

6. Your Rights – GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • The right to access any personal data we hold about you
  • The right to request correction or deletion of your personal data
  • The right to object to or restrict processing of your personal data
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to opt out of personalized advertising – you can do this through your device settings (e.g., "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android, or "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS), or by visiting https://adssettings.google.com

Since we do not collect PII ourselves, most data-subject requests should be directed to Google regarding AdMob data. For data stored locally on your device, you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or uninstalling the app.

7. Your Rights – CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:

  • The right to know what personal information is collected about you and how it is used or shared
  • The right to delete personal information we have collected
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information – we do not sell your personal information to any third party
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address provided in Section 9.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data associated with the App. Game session data is held in server memory only for the active duration of the session and is never written to persistent storage on our servers. All data at rest on your device remains under your control.
